The Power of Crosby
I remember watching the press conference online where Penguins GM Ray Shero and Penguins Superstar Sidney Crosby sat at a table (see picture) answering question after question about how the Pens medical staff didn't catch this new "neck injury" that was causing these reoccurring headaches and concussion-like symptoms. Shero and Crosby talked about how it is a difficult injury to diagnose, and how several specialists missed it before finally traveling to the west coast to get the correct diagnosis. When Shero was asked if the medical staff will return after missing this, he danced around the issue like a ballet dancer, but essentially said that time will tell. Well, time has spoken and the entire Penguins medical staff has been fired. A new medical staff has already replaced the old one, and I'm sure there were several pre-cursors to this hiring. #1 - TAKE CARE OF SIDNEY CROSBY. #2 - TAKE CARE OF SIDNEY CROSBY...you get the picture. When I initially heard the news relating to the penguins medical staff my first thought was "Wow. Crosby sure does have alot of power in that organization." If they would have "mis-diagnosed" a Matt Cooke injury do you think the ENTIRE MEDICAL STAFF would have been fired? I highly doubt it. The Penguins have put alot of time, money, and patience into their Captain, and expect him to do what he does best...lead the Penguins to a Stanley Cup title. This new medical staff has it's work cut out for them. Be sure to keep their star player(s) healthy to give this team the best chance of winning, and not just getting into the playoffs, but going after Lord Stanley's fabled cup. Lets hope they do the job better than the previous medical staff did.

They didn't just mis-diagnose a hockey player...they mis-diagnosed the star of the Penguins and the face of the NHL. It was international news for a long time. They had to fire them.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a good move, now let's hope they find a winger to play beside him!
