Don't Get The Bye Week Blues



Where'd Everyone Go? Oh, Its The BYE Week...


It happens every NFL season.  Every fan base has to endure this at least once a year.  Its the Bye Week Blues.  The week where your favorite NFL team doesn't play, and you are stuck listening to or watching non-stop football coverage of every NFL team besides your favorite team!  To me, the bye week is pretty crappy, but then again, maybe its an NFL blessing in disguise. 

This is a week where if I miss some NFL football it isn't that big of a deal.  Its a chance to actually get some yard work done on a Sunday instead of being glued to a couch or chair watching football.  Most importantly its a chance for me to do something I don't get to do as often, and that is to go golfing.  I was going to say that I was boycotting the NFL this Sunday due to the fact that the replacement refs were so horrible, but then the NFL had to cave and now I am just playing in a golf tournament instead of having a "bigger cause"...stupid NFL.

The one thing I always remember about the bye week is to remember what those NFL players are doing.  Most don't watch football, don't listen to sports talk radio, and don't even do anything related to football.  They get away.  Maybe we all should take a page out of our favorite team's playbook and take an NFL break during the bye week.  But how am I going to check on my fantasy football team?  I'm pretty sure you don't have to be watching to actually get points in your league.  What about all the news and plays that I might miss?  Plenty of TV shows cover the NFL and have highlights. 

Look, I can't say that I've always done this.  That once a year I actually "get away" from football.  I'm just as addicted as you are to the Pittsburgh Steelers and NFL football.  However, as my family grows, and I grow older (but not up), I realize that the NFL isn't life.  It isn't my life...because whether I watch or not, the game goes on.  This is the main reason why if you check the blog this weekend there won't be any new material until Monday.  I'm taking a bye week!  Enjoy!
