Pirates Follow Suit As Brew Crew Sweeps Buccos

"J-Mac" Was Back To His old Self
vs the Brewers
Was anyone really surprised?  I can honestly say I wasn't.  This is the 2nd time in 3 weeks that the Pirates have taken 2 of 3 from the St. Louis Cardinals and followed the series win with being swept by a team that is below .500.  First it was the Padres, now the Brewers.  The Pirates continue to struggle with Miluwaukee.  Last night after listening to the loss, I headed over to my Twitter account (you can follow me @BnGBlitz) and got into some discussions with fellow Pirates fans.  It was there that a friend of the site gave me the following information.  @Battling_Bucs gave us the following statistic - The Pirates are 7-44 in Miller Park the last 6 years.  Read that again...7-44!  That is absurd and undeniable that there is just something about that team in that building that the Buccos can't get over.  Other than that shocking statistic, the general concensus on Twitter was pure hatred.  Hating Clint Hurdle, hating Rob Barajas (that might have been me too), hating Clint Barmes, and cursing Neil Walker for being injured.

The anger being spewed from fans is not a surprise.  The Pirates have played poorly and when you have high expectations tagged to you, you have to deal with the backlash.  What do you think happens when the Steelers struggle in the red zone with questionable play calling?  Bruce Arians gets the axe...and don't think the fans constant complaining didn't play a small role in that decision.  The Penguins are playing too conservative and defensive with superstars on the team...Michelle Terrien gets the axe.  Again, don't say the fans didn't play a role in that decision.  The backlash is turning to the Pirates and Clint Hurdle.  Hurdle does things his way, and sometimes those are dumb decisions.  The fact that Rob Barajas still goes out there when Michael McKenry is playing well (and hitting) still dumbfounds me.  I've said this before, but Hurdle needs to mix things up to at least show fans that he is TRYING to find the right combination to get this team back on track.

The following games are against PUTRID teams.  Astros and Cubs mainly on the docket.  However, nothing should surprise you at this point with this team.  The Astros that are essentially a AAA team could win the series...heck, they could sweep the Pirates!  As always, I am going to keep the faith and hope that the Pirates at least can make things interesting in the month of September.  It isn't a difficult stretch like they saw in August, so hopefully September will be a better month.  It definitely didn't get off to a great start vs the Brewers, but hopefully they can turn things around.  If not, I'm afraid what might happen to some of these players / coaches in the offseason.
