Pittsburgh Steelers vs Baltimore Ravens - You Bet Its Hatred

There is NO Love Loss Between the Steelers and Ravens
If you grew up in a household like I did, you heard this from time to time, "Jeff (or whatever your name is), HATE is a strong word...you shouldn't say that..."  You are darn right hate is a strong word, and when it comes to the Steelers and Ravens HATE is the correct word for the description.  I realize that I don't play for the Steelers, and my dislike for the Ravens has nothing to do with the outcome of the game, but that doesn't make me any less intense about the game and it's outcome.  After all, calling yourself a "fan" is short for "fanatic".  I certainly fit into that category, as does much of SteelerNation.  The Ravens and Steelers will play nice in the media this week talking about how the teams are "mirror images of one another" and how competition breeds respect...blah blah blah.  I miss the days of Hines Ward and Joey Porter actually speaking their minds.  We hate them, they hate us...lets get this thing done.

I may be more sensitive about this subject than most of SteelerNation because I live in Maryland, and am only about an hour out of Baltimore.  I am forced to hear those moronic Ravens fans talking about last season every day this week, not to mention them wearing those "super manly" purple jerseys.  There isn't a team in any sport (that includes the Flyers and Capitals of the NHL) that I hate more than the Ravens.  It isn't just the Ravens players, but their entire fan base that I can't stand.  I'm sure they feel the same way about me, but this rivalry has transcended the field and has bled into the fan bases.  Do I talk about the Browns or Bengals like this?  No...because no one cares about those crappy organizations.  I do talk about the Ravens like this not only because I am in enemy territory on a daily basis, but I wear my black n' gold on my sleeve everyday.  Not many teams invoke the expletives that spew out of my mouth on game day like the Ravens.  I don't just yell and holler at the TV, no I try to verbally attack each individual.  Whether it was calling Ray Lewis a murderer, Jamal Lewis a drug dealer, Brian Billick a prick, or Jon Harbaugh a D-Bag...I pull out all the stops for the Ratbirds.

If you've read this far, you might be wondering why I even wrote an article like this?  Why would I just put on the site my hatred towards the Ravens?  Well, its easy.  I've been seeing on Twitter (Follow me - @BnGBlitz) SteelerNation slowly lose intensity for this upcoming game because the Steelers have some injuries.  I felt it was my civic duty to remind everyone how much Steelers fans HATE the Ravens.  Think back to those games last season...the opening day blowout and the Ravens 92 yd drive to win the game winning TD.  If that doesn't get you pissed off then I don't know what will.  This is the first chance the Steelers have to avenge those losses and I think that will happen on Sunday Night.  The Steelers have their backs against the wall, are extremely banged up, and are playing a legitimate contender.  Do the math and that normally equates to the Steelers playing inspired football.  Add the fact that they are playing the Ravens and you just got the stove cooking even hotter.  Don't forget your roots this Sunday, and those roots are buried in hatred for the Baltimorons.
