The Pittsburgh Sports Notebook (10/14)

This is a new feature I'm bringing to the site on a daily or every other day basis where I essentially give you tid bits of information regarding any of the "Big 3" professional sports teams in the Steel City.  Lets get this job done right...

Steelers
- Newly acquired LT, Levi Brown, and TE David Johnson both were injured yesterday.  Brown in warm ups, and Johnson sometime during the game.  Johnson's wrist injury and Brown's triceps injury were deemed as "potentially major" by Mike Tomlin.

- Le'Veon Bell looked to injure his right foot in the latter parts of the game on Sunday but no news was given after the game.  More information coming on Tuesday from Mike Tomlin and his weekly presser.

- Shaun Suisham has yet to miss a FG this season.  He is 10-10

- Next 3 week matchups for the Steelers are:
   - vs. Ravens
   - @ Raiders
   - @ Patriots

Penguins
- Sidney Crosby was selected as the NHL's 3rd "Star of the Week" for this past week.  He tallied 7 points (3 goals and 4 assists) in 3 games.

- Kris Letang continues to skate with the Penguins, and might be ready for a full practice today.  Doing so would begin the "gameday decision" tag for the Penguins top offensive defenseman.

- No word on when James Neal might return to practice and to the team after suffering an oblique strain while playing whiffle ball game on the ice to show support for the Pittsburgh Pirates' postseason run.

- Upcoming Schedule for the Penguins:
   - Tues - vs Edmonton
   - Thurs - @ Phildelphia
   - Sat - vs Vancouver

Pirates
- The Pirates have all retreated to their winter homes.

- AJ Burnett tells the Post-Gazette that he "Badly wanted to pitch" Game 5 of the NLDS and stated that he wasn't available from the bull pen in Game 5 because if he was going to pitch in Game 1 of the NLCS (if the Pirates would have advanced) then he wanted to throw a side session.  By doing so made him unavailable for Game 5.

- In BREAKING NEWS, I'm still bitter about the Pirates not still playing baseball.
