The Pittsburgh Sports Notebook (10/15)

Okay, big shout out to a friend of mine who is celebrating a birthday today!  Happy Birthday!  Anywho...lets get on with the sports already.

Steelers
- The Levi Brown era lasted one game...wait, I mean one warm up....wait...he didn't even complete a warm up before tearing his triceps and is now on IR for the remainder of the year.

- David Johnson (TE) is no stranger to the IR.  Turns out he missed it so much he hurt his wrist in the 1st quarter to be placed back on the IR, ending his season.

- Emmanuel Sanders and the rest of the Steelers were told to knock off the flips into the endzone.  Too dangerous...could get hurt.  Tomlin will have none of it.

- Brett Keisel (Ribs) and Lamarr Woodley (Knee) will be limited in the early portions of the week, but should be available come Sunday.

- Good news from the injury front.  ILB Sean Spence was taken off the PUP list (Physically Unable to Perform) and will be participating in individual drills this week.  Tomlin didn't rule out him playing this season.  For a guy who some thought would never play football again...congrats on getting back!

- Markus Wheaton (Finger) will be OUT this Sunday as he still is recovering from surgery.

- Tomlin unsure whether he allows fun to be had in the locker room this week.

Penguins
- Kris Letang continues to skate with the team, but is unsure of his availability for tonight's game against the Oilers.  In the morning skate, he was paired with Derek Engelland.

- Beau Bennett's lower body injury has his status for tonight in the air.  The Pens recalled Harry Zolnierczyk as a potential replacement.

- The lines at this morning's skate were as follows:
   - Kunitz / Crosby / Dupuis
   - Jokinen / Malkin / Kobasew
   - Jeffrey / Sutter / Zolnierczyk
   - Glass / Vitale / Adams
   - Orpik & Martin
   - Scuderi & Niskanen
   - Maatta & Bortuzzo
   - Engelland & Letang

- The Edmonton Oilers are coming off of a 4-2 loss at the hands of Metroplitan Division member, Washington Capitals last night.

- The Penguins (after 5 games) still lead the Metropolitan Division with 8 points, and trail only Toronto (who has played 6 games) with 10 points.  They will have their chance to tie that tally tonight at home.

Pirates
- I'm still bitter about the Pirates losing, and will be until baseball is over.
