RECAP - Pirates - 4 / Marlins - 2

"Cutch" is Heating Up at the Plate
Pittsburgh Pirates - 4
Miami Marlins - 2

WP - Charlie Morton
LP - Koehler

The Pittsburgh Pirates looked to continue their hot streak, as well as build on that emotional walk off HR the previous night by Josh Harrison with a solid outing.  The 2nd of 3 games against the Marlins would be a see saw affair once again, but a rare hero stood out.  Who would that rare hero be?  A Mr. Charlie Morton.  "Ground Chuck", as he is affectionately titled due to his ability to cause hitters to hit groundballs, had his stuff working against the Marlins.  Morton pitched 7 innings, giving up 6 hits and 2 earned runs.  He struck out 5, and walked ZERO batters.  Morton's command was on, and that was evident in the fact that he didn't walk a single batter the entire outing.  Morton didn't just pitch well, he helped his own cause going 1-2 with an RBI single.  Morton came into the game without a hit, and left with both a hit and an RBI...not a bad day at the office.

The Pirates were forced to come from behind....again....and did so with the help of Andrew McCutchen.  "Cutch" is starting to hit his stride in a big way as he went 2-3 with a HR (16th) and was the main source of offense for the Pirates.  He was the only Pirate to record a multiple hit game against the Marlins pitching staff.  This was a great win for the Pirates, not because they came from behind, but also because they have resilient players all across the lineup.  Morton broke his string of bad outings, McCutchen and Walker are heating up, and the bull pen remains in "Lock Down" mode.  All is right in the world of "Buc Nation".
