Yes, you read that score correctly. The finale of the "Biggest Series in PNC Park History" was similar to watching the air being let out of a balloon. The Pirates won the first 4 games of this series on fundamentals. Limiting mental mistakes, making the most of their at bats, and capitalizing on timely situations. Take all that I just typed, and flip it...that's what you saw in this debacle Thursday night. The Pirates made a ton of mental and physical mistakes, looked rushed and hurried at the plate, and couldn't buy a timely hit to save their lives. There was nothing of note really from this game, except it was a flat out DUD.
Pirates fans shouldn't be too disgusted though. Although it would have been nice to sweep the Red Birds, if I asked you individually if you would be happy with the Pirates taking 4 of 5 in this five game series...you would have been ecstatic. Well, that's exactly what the Pirates did...so take this loss with a grain of salt.
Pirates vs. Rockies - 7:05 - Cole vs. Chacin
Pirates vs. Rockies - 7:05 - Liriano vs. De La Rosa
Pirates vs. Rockies - 1:35 - Burnett vs. Dicasio
