RECAP - Pirates - 5 / Rockies - 2

Francisco "Frank the Tank" Liriano - The Best Free Agent
Acquisition in MLB
Pittsburgh Pirates - 5
Colorado Rockies - 2

WP - Francisco Liriano
LP - De La Rosa

You didn't think the Pirates were going to slump back into oblivion did you?  Unfortunately, I bet a lot of you reading this probably DID think that might happen.  Don't look now, but this baseball team has won 5 of their last 7 games and is looking to get solid contributions from some characters that were cast aways before the season.  When the Pirates traveled to the "Land of Misfit Toys", they found one that really cashed in...Francisco "Frank the Tank" Liriano.  If you ask me, he is the best Free Agent acquisition in all of sports.  Hands down, no doubt about it.  Tell me ONE player who has done what he has as a free agent?  I don't even care what position...anyone?  Anyone?  Yeah...Liriano's 12th win was sweet, and do you want to know what is scary?  He didn't even have his best stuff tonight. Liriano was erratic at times putting runners on via walk, but he was able to escape jams and got timely hitting from his offense.

The only downside of this game that I can think of was the fact that the Pirates had a 5-0 lead heading into the top of the 8th and the "Shark Tank" surrendered 2 runs...just to make it interesting I'm sure of it.  Look, I realize the Pirates' bull pen is amazing and its rare to see them give up runs, but that doesn't mean I am going to become "okay" with the fact that they surrendered 2 runs when they needed to simply shut the door.  You didn't think that when the Pirates win then everyone is going to all "sunshine and roses" did you?  This team can contend, but they need to now not just strive to win series, etc, but to be perfect in every aspect of their game.
